The first day in Columbus continued with fnatic beating Splyce 16-5 on de_train to advance to the Group B winners' match against Liquid.
The second match of Group B saw the world's number one team fnatic go up against Splyce who surprisingly qualified for MLG Columbus 2016. Splyce started on the CT-side and gained a 5v3 advantage but fnatic closed out the pistol round and also picked up the following two rounds (3-0).
Thanks to David "DAVEY" Stafford's triple-kill with an AWP, Splyce picked up the fourth round but fnatic answered right back and put the North American team into a hard economocial situation (4-1). Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer followed up with an anti-eco ace to make it 5-1.
fnatic did not meet any resistance
The timeout paid off for Splyce as they got their second round but it turned out it was a trivial one as fnatic just rolled over Splyce. In the 14th round, Splyce had a 5v3 advantage but even then, fnatic got the round and the half finished 13-2 with fnatic leading.
DAVEY stepped up on the pistol round of the second half and his team secured the anti-eco rounds to bring it to 13-5 but fnatic did not allow a comeback and closed it out 16-5.
